I've used Mechanix gloves for years; the original was good for my job in the Post Office, because of the ability to feel what you were doing. They didn't hold up like leather, but I could keep my gloves on for more tasks.
These utility gloves hold up better for work around the house. I use them for yard work, working on my vehicles, demolition and carpentry. They will wear out, but it's usually on the top edge of the leather finger pads, so you can use them even when they start to get a little worn. Even with the leather pads, these gloves provide a more tactile experience that full leather gloves and are much cooler to wear in warmer weather.
